Have you ever had a dream? I mean a wonderful, life-changing dream, which would improve your life, make you feel more confident, solve that main problem you always have to deal with, …?

And have you ever thought: “yes, tomorrow is the day. I will do this and that to pursue my dream”?

But then, when the time came, something stopped you from doing the right step in the right direction?

 

SO, WHY ARE YOU STILL HERE?

There’s science behind this! According to many research studies in the field of science, neuroscience, psychology and related areas, this phenomenon has been named in various ways but has the same origin.

As clearly explained by the American influencer Mel Robbins, your brain has been designed to protect you. So, in the exact same moment in which you plan to get out of your comfort zone and try something new, and you feel excited and proactive, the brain understands that something unexpected and unknown is going to make you try new experiences. And chances are that if you try something new, your existence is at risk, because you do things differently. So, your brain traps you into some processes aimed at stopping you from taking action like overthinking, worry and fear.

WHAT CAN YOU DO?

It may sound simple, but…you HAVE TO MOVE!

Mel Robbins wrote a book called “the 5 second rule” in which she invited you to back count from 5 to 0 and take action to prevent your brain from doubting and stopping you from the moment you plan to do something to the moment you actually go for it. She says that scientific researches concludes that 5 seconds is the exact time it takes to the brain to start acting against your decision.

Moreover, according to important studies, it has been demonstrated that people are happier when they are convinced that they are in full control of their lives. On the opposite side, people thinking that life is unpredictable, experience a deeper sense of anxiety and uncertainty. The fact of acting in some way, gives you the feeling that YOU are in control, and this contributes to make you a happier, more successful and more confident person. Which, in a word, are the ingredients to reach your goals.
